OPEN CALL for the Kramatorsk (Ukraine) Artist Residency program “Diffusion”
Description: Project ‘Diffusion’ came to life in 2016. It aims at bringing together artists from different spheres (film and photography, multimedia, street arts, fine arts and crafts, contemporary art performance, dance, theatre, design, drawing, etc.) to create artworks that address important social and environmental issues and preferably involve local community in development of artwork. The Residency is open for artists both from Ukraine and abroad. The culminating moment of the Residency is a final exhibition on the 8th of September in the Kramatorsk Art Museum where the artworks created during the Residency will be shown.
Kramatorsk is a small industrial, but very green town that due to geo-political turbulence became a kind of center of Southeast Ukraine. It is also celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. By choosing Kramatorsk as the city for the residency, the Program offers a unique experience when it comes to discovering the cultural transitions which are so characteristic to all ‘Post-Soviet’ era of the Eastern European countries. Feedback and experience of the first two editions of “Diffusion” have shown that the acclimatization process which accompanies the residency in a new city full of contrasts invariably generates creative impulses that sooner or later manifest themselves in some form of artistic expression. Participants present their depiction of their sensations to local people by giving them a chance to view their city through the eyes of a stranger.

Target group: International and Ukrainian artists
Duration of the Residency: The Residency will take place between 20st August 2018 and 15th September 2018. The participants should commit to stay from 2 to 4 weeks.
Disciplines Supported: The Residency is open for arts professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to fine art, photography; video, multimedia and performance art.
Accommodation: Participants live in hostel or in a shared apartment.
Workspace/technical information: The Program founders/curators work together with participants and can provide support to the participants.
Fees and costs: The program covers accommodation and shared open studio spaces costs for the duration of the Residency. Applicants are responsible for covering travel and food expenses/daily allowances, materials costs etc. Access to analogue photo laboratory and video editing room can be made available upon demand. Some production (materials) support can be provided upon additional request. If required, the Kramatorsk Art Museum can issue acceptance/participation confirmation letter to help the participants to obtain grants to cover their travel, insurance, food, materials related costs etc.
Requirements towards the artist: At the end of the Residency, artists are expected to present/discuss/share the results of their work with the local community in the form of artist talk, screening, exhibition, performance act and/or a workshop. There is no age limit for the target audience.

Selection process: The selection criteria will include previous experience and artistic merit of the applicant as well as motivation of the artist and the desire to engage the local public in contemporary art processes.
The applications will be evaluated by the committee including founders/curators of “Diffusion”, representatives of the Kramatorsk Art Museum, the Donetsk Art Museum in Druzkivka, the Avdiivka Historical Museum (all three are partners of the Program) and printing house ‘HORELYVI’ as cooperation partner of the Residency.

Diffusion bietet Künstlern/-innen im Bereich Bildende Kunst, Fotografie, Videokunst, Medienkunst, Installationen und Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum Unterkunft, Arbeitsmöglichkeit und Basis-Ausstattung an. Spezielle Bedürfnisse und Ausstattungswünsche werden in Absprache mit dem Künstler bzw. der Künstlerin bereitgestellt, sofern es die Kapazitäten vor Ort zulassen.
Bisher wurden drei Künstler-Residenzen (zwei im 2017 und einer im Frühling 2018) erfolgreich umgesetzt.
Diffusion gibt Künstlern/-innen die Möglichkeit neue Ideen zu entwickeln und mit ihren vorhandenen Arbeiten in einer neuen Umgebung zu experimentieren. Die junge, nicht übergeladener mit Kunst und wachsende freie Szene macht Kramatorsk zu einem inspirierenden Experimentierfeld für politisch, sozial beeinflusste Kunst wie auch für Konzeptfreier Kunst, die auch in die nahegelegenen Städte Slawyansk und Druzkivka ausstrahlt.
Das Resultat des Residenzaufenthaltes wird jeweils in einem angemessenen Format am Ende des Aufenthalts der Öffentlichkeit präsentiert.

Відкрито набір до Програми Краматорська Мистецька Резиденція “Дифузії” (Україна)
Опис: Проект “Дифузії” зародився у 2016 році. Ціллю проекту є об’єднати митців з різних сфер (фільм та фотографія, мультимедіа, стрит-арт, образотворче мистецтво, танець, театр, дизайн, малюнок, тощо), які у своїх витворах мистецтва, створених під час Резиденції, торкатимуться та розкриватимуть в тій чі іншій формі важливі питання соціального та культурного життя громади, а також, по можливості, залучатимуть місцевих жителів в процес розробки цих творів мистецтва.
Резиденція відкрита для митців з України та з-за кордону. Кульмінаційним моментом Резиденції є виставка у Краматорському Художньому Музеї, де будуть представлені створені підчас Резиденції витвори. Виставка відбудеться 8 вересня 2018.
Краматорськ є невеликим, індустріальним, проте зеленим містом, яке в силу геополітичних турбуленсій перетворилося на своєрідний новий центр Південо-Східної України. Цього року місто відзначає своє 150-річчя. Обравши саме Краматорськ для Резиденції, програма пропонує унікальний досвід пізнання процесів культурних перетворень, що характерні для пострадянської епохи країн Східної Європи. Відгуки та досвід перших двох резиденцій програми “Дифузії” підтверджують, що процес акліматизації, який супроводжує перебування у новому місті, повному контрастів, незмінно породжує творчі імпульси, які рано чи пізно проявляються в певній формі мистецького вираження. Своє сприйняття навколишнього учасники демонструють місцевим жителям, надаючи їм можливість побачити своє місто очима незнайомця.

Цільова група: Міжнародні та українські митці
Тривалість резиденції: Резиденція триватиме з 20 серпня по 15 вересня 2018 року. Учасники зобов’язані перебувати в резиденції від 2 до 4 тижнів.
Сфери: Резиденція відкрита для митців-професіоналів з різних дисциплін, включаючи образотворче мистецтво, фотографія, відео, мульти-медіа, арт-перформанс; перелік не є вичерпаним.
Проживання: Учасники проживатимуть в хостелі чи у квартирі з іншими учасниками
Місце праці/технічна інформація: Засновники/куратори програми працюватимуть разом з учасниками та допомагатимуть їм.
Витрати: Програма надає проживання та спільну студію/ательє для праці на час перебування в Резиденції. Учасники несуть витрати за проїзд, харчування/щоденні витрати, матеріал, тощо. На прохання, може бути наданий доступ до аналогової фотолабораторії та кімнати для редагування відеоматеріалів. На прохання та при можливости може бути надана підтримка щодо матеріалів, необхідних для роботи. У разі необхідності, Краматорський Художній Музей може видавати листи з підтвердженням участі/зарахуванням до Програми, з метою допомогти учасникам отримати додаткові гранти для покриття витрат на проїзд, страхування, харчування, матеріали, тощо.
Вимоги до митців: Наприкінці Резиденії учасники повинні представити/обговорити / поділитися результатами своєї роботи з місцевою громадою у формі відкритих діалогів, виставки, акту та/ або семінару. Цільова аудиторія при цьому не має вікового обмеження.

Процес відбору: Критерії вибору включатимуть попередній досвід та досягнення митця, а також мотивацію та бажання залучити місцеву громаду до процесу творення сучасного мистецтва.
Заявки буде оцінювати комітет, до складу якого входитимуть засновники та куратори "Дифузії", представники Краматорського Художнього Музею, Донецького Художнього Музею у Дружківці, Авдіївського Історичного Музею (всі три - партнери Програми) та представники друкарні "ХОРЕЛИВІ", яка є кооперацїйним партнером Резиденції.
